Calculating Propulsive Efficiency of an Aircraft Propeller
You have thrust and velocity, but you don't have consumed power. You also need to make sure your units match up. For example, thrust*velocity is a power term, and to get that into (ft-lbs/sec) your thrust needs to be in (lbs) and velocity needs to be in (ft/s). Your power term needs to be...- rbeale98

Requirements to major in Astronautical engineering.
I don't think you should bother with reading books to prepare unless you have a strong interest in aerospace. I went into AE thinking an engineer is the guy who drives a train. You'll have every opportunity to learn what you need/want to learn in college. But you definitely want to be a math...- rbeale98

Undergrad Study Shows Low Average of Books Read, Man Debates Its Validity
i think you are wrong. first, 6 books a year is not low enough to say a person doesn't read. To say someone doesn't read is to say they read 0 books per year. you need to know the percentage of people that read 0 books per year to say "most people don't read books." the average doesn't tell...- rbeale98

Aeronautical Engineering & Aircraft Accident Causes
There was also a test procedure to blame for not revealing the true fatigue life of the fuselage section near the window corner. They applied proof pressures to the cabin during the pressure fatigue cycling test, which is believed to have left residual compressive stresses at the crack origin...- rbeale98

Top Senior Capstone Project Ideas for Aerospace Engineering Students
go to aiaa.org and look at their student design competitions. these would serve as a great senior project. I did the air-breathing engine design competition my senior year. It was a paper design, but some of their competitions actually require building something. You should do one of these...- rbeale98

Graduate Equivalence Test: Finding Appropriate Statistical Test for Different Populations
The goal of the t-test is prove a significant difference between 2 samples. It is not appropriate to prove equivalence. The same paradigm is used in a court of law: You are innocent until proven guilty. If there is no evidence, you are considered "not guilty." The reason they don't call...- rbeale98

Undergrad Russian Roulette: Survival & Hit Probability
you are correct. all probabilities are long term average numbers. the second column basically says if there were 100 people lining up to play this game, you want to be as far away from the first person as possible. the first person has the highest probability of getting shot.- rbeale98

Undergrad Russian Roulette: Survival & Hit Probability
think about if 100 people stood in a line and played the game. the probability of each person getting shot diminishes as you go down the line because it is assumed that the game ends once someone gets shot- rbeale98

Undergrad Russian Roulette: Survival & Hit Probability
it is the probability you will get shot on the third try before the first game even started. so getting shot on the third try is dependent upon the fact that you survived the first and second shot. same is true for survival, surviving the third shot is dependent upon the fact that you survive...- rbeale98

Undergrad Russian Roulette: Survival & Hit Probability
the assumption above is obviously that the person spins the chamber every time. the first column is the probability of surviving that many rounds, the second column is the probability of getting shot after surviving all of the previous rounds. say for example you were forced to play the game...- rbeale98
