I really would like to know. I have no measurement tools at my disposal although I can get access. I would prefer a way that does not involve combusting the fuel.

Can you suggest such a drying agent?
Thanks for the detailed replies AlephZero. Thing is, for my application, I cannot buy something off the shelf, I need to "replicate" the behavior of a damper, which I will have to construct myself. What I have to do is make some kind of collision protection mechanism for colliding trolleys. So I...
Well actually I was looking at this system as a "brake" for the weight, where the "syringe" would slow it down to a standstill. So if seen in that light, what you say is good I guess. So I want to calculate the time for the weight to come to a stop.
Say I have a device that looks like a large syringe, filled with some liquid (water). On the "plunger" side I have a flat plate say, that holds the water in the cylinder. On the "nozzle" side, the water is hold in by some cover. I eject the water by striking the flat plate with a weight of...
Can somebody explain Achimedes principle to me? Where he used it to determine the difference in density between silver and gold. Apparently he immersed a lump of gold and silver in water (I assume they were the same size/volume) and each lump displaced a different volume of water. Is that the...
Another question: Say I have to have an external tank providing air (or some other gas). Would the system be able to work in a self-contained way, ie. without having to introduce air from outside the system (the system being the tank and cylinder)?
Ok, I get it. So here's the thing: Is there any way to have the mechanism self-contained in the cylinder? What I mean is, to do without some kind of external tank to provide the pressure source of air or whatever?
What I am thinking is the cylinder is pressurized enough to raise the weight, but...
Pneumatic I guess I meant.
What I need some kind of cylinder that extends and lifts a weight. I also need to activate the lifting via some kind of RF signal. I would then manually return the weight to the original position.
Hi
I have a weight of around 100lbs that I need to raise by a few inches. Basically what I would like is some kind of compressed-gas device that I can place underneath the weight and:
1. then trigger the gas to expand and raise the weight.
2. push down the weight to restore it to its...
