I What sort of energy can be stored?

So apparently something like heat or work cannot be stored but things like kinetic energy or PE can be...? Can someone clarify this? Is it because heat and work aren't state functions?

What is the difference between entropy reversibility and irreversibility?

I don't get this concept at all. I am also confused on what entropy is at all. I have always thought of it as the measure of disorder but this seems to be only one of the definitions. Maybe it's because I'm not sure what entropy is that I am having a problem with understanding reversibility...

Studying How important is natural talent?

I'm a (physical) chemistry major, middle of my undergrad but I didn't really get into it until very recently. After realizing that I was missing out, I started to self study physics and chemistry earlier last month pretty seriously. I have come to the conclusion that I have no natural talent...

    Difference between Isothermal and Adiabatic?

I did think about that. So if Q is 0 all the internal energy would go to work. However, I thought temperature change was required for there to be a change of internal energy. Then, I ended up back to, how is there no heat when there is a temperature change when heat is involved when there's a...

    Difference between Isothermal and Adiabatic?

So for Isothermal, there is no change of T so hence delta U is 0. However, if there isn't a change of temperature, how is there a change of Q? I thought heat was the flow of energy of different temperatures. This confuses me for adiabatic as well. With no heat, how is there a temperature change...

B I don't understand how this was manipulated

I'm reading an explanation that involves the atom hitting the wall twice so the distance the atom traveled is 2d along the x direction in time delta t. Then the paragraph concludes that delta t = 2d/vx So I assumed that it was because vx = 2d/delta t. Is that it? Or is there something that I'm...

Does ice do work when it melts or freezes?

Ooh alright! I was reading a line in my textbook completely wrong. Ah that was dumb Thanks!

Does ice do work when it melts or freezes?

I guess what sort of made me wonder about it is when ice melts, the volume doesn't actually change..right? So no work. But if you freeze liquid water, ice expands. So work done?

Does ice do work when it melts or freezes?

delta W = pAs = pV so a change of volume would indicate a change of work wouldn't it?

Does ice do work when it melts or freezes?

Since when you freeze liquid water, there's an expansion, wouldn't that mean there's work?
