What would you put in a survival guide for the end of the world?
Well I mentioned that infrastructure would be destroyed...meaning computers (seeing as they're very valuable nowadays), guess I should have been specific. If the majority of the world is destroyed along with the majority of the people...how are you going to read the information of the chip...- sdobbers

What would you put in a survival guide for the end of the world?
Well I thought it'd be nice to do a little thought exercise. Earlier today I was thinking about how much knowledge & wisdom we've acquired over the years, and was wondering what would happen if something truly disastrous was to happen to the planet... Now I'm going to set up a situation and...- sdobbers

Aerospace Engineering Basics: Get the Intro Info You Need
I'm leaning more towards the space route, most likely propulsion area. Do you know of any sites that have information on those topics, or books on those topics?- sdobbers

Aerospace Engineering Basics: Get the Intro Info You Need
Hey guys, I'm looking for some information on basic/intro Aerospace engineering topics. I'm currently double majoring in math/physics...but am planning on mastering in Aerospace. I figure I'm going to have to take some extra classes, so I might as well start to get a feel for some of the...- sdobbers

Graduate Thin Film Interference problem
Hey guys, I was wondering if someone could explain to me when Thin Film Interference will produce constructive/destructive interference. I think I might understand it, but I'm not 100% sure and I have a test coming up soon. Any help would be great! Ok, so I know we have the equation: 2t =... -

Graduate General Optimization Question
How would you go about finding the highest point on the curve of intersection of an ellipsoid and a plane? Given: x^2 + y^2 + z^2 = k and ax + by + cz = j. I was thinking about using Lagrange Multipliers but I would always get stuck. -

Other Should I Become a Mathematician?
I haven't read this whole thread yet...74 pages is a lot (I've read a lot of it though!). I've been looking for some math books to buy lately, and I see that there have been a lot mentioned in this thread. My question is, can anyone make a comprehensive list so that we don't have to go...- sdobbers

Undergrad Prove Linear Dependence for Set of Vectors w/ Zero Vector
(C1)(X1) + (C2)(X2) + ... + (Cn)(Xn) = 0 Take X1 = 0 vector; and all other constants besides C1 to be zero. (C1)(0) + (0)(X2) + ... +(0)(Xn) = 0 In this case, C1 does not have to be equal to 0, it could be any number. In order for them to be independent, c1=c2=cn=0; since c1 does not equal 0...- sdobbers

Limits of Multivariable Functions
I've never really been any good at converting from Cartesian to Polar (for some reason my college just doesn't seem to do it that often). So I'm not really sure if I'm doing this right. a) converted the first equation into (r, \theta) --> (0,0) (rcos\thetarsin\thetacosy) /...- sdobbers

This is what I'm currently doing. Double majoring in Physics/Math, then hoping to go into aerospace engineering for my masters. Not too sure how it's going to work out, but hopefully it does haha.- sdobbers
