Schools U Of Toronto vs UBC in physics graduate school (condensed matter theory)

I have to choose between U of T and UBC for my physics graduate school. QS ranking places UBC(46th) much higher than U of T (100th), but two of my professors told me the other way around. any ideas about the discrepancy? thanks~

Schools Graduate school asking for a list of universities I apply to

Thank you for the info... but what do you think if we tell a university that we are applying for a more superior university? It means either we are very good or the chance of rejecting their admission is high.

This reduces my...

A suitable GRE verbal score for a PhD application

The 147 corresponds to a percentile rank of 33%. I know I have to exceed the cutoff scores, but I am wondering if people in charge of the admission will throw away my application right away after seeing my verbal score without looking at my other documents.

A suitable GRE verbal score for a PhD application

Dear all, I just finished my GRE general test yesterday, and my score in verbal reasoning is low (147). I am worried about the effects of this score on my graduate school application, but I have heard from some of my friends that the verbal section does not matter much for a Physics...
