Graduate Solving Schrodinger's Cat Paradox: Is a Superman the Answer?
Consider Schrödinger's cat. In QM we say that the cat is alive and dead.(as we wrote them in Schrödinger's wave function) That's because nobody knows the cat's state. What if there is a poison-proof superman in the box with the cat or let's say there is a poison critical to cat but not to...- ssampak

Graduate Formalisms (in fidelity calculation for quantum teleportation)
Hi, I am trying to read a paper about quantum teleportation and got stuck with calculating the fidelity of the mixed(noisy) channel. Fidelity F := < \Phi^{(-)}_{12} | \rho_{1} \otimes \rho_{23} | \Phi^{(-)}_{12} > where \rho_{1} = | \phi_{1} > < \phi_{1} | and \rho_{23} = t |...- ssampak

Find asymptotes for rational functions
Homework Statement Find asymptotes for f(x) = (x^2 -1) / (x - 1). (if exist) Homework Equations g(x) is a (horizontal or oblique) asymptote if lim |f(x) - g(x)| = 0 (here, lim is to be limit as x goes to infinity. don't know how to type it) or if q(x)/p(x) = g(x) + r(x)/p(x)...- ssampak

Graduate About mixed state and pure state
Thx for the reply. appreciate that. I am still kinda confused. We call the "pure state" above as a superposition of spin up and down, and when we measure it, we can then know that the system is either spin up or down state. But for "mixed state" system, we just say the system is either in...- ssampak

Graduate About mixed state and pure state
I don't have any problems dealing with mechanical calculations(I think), but yet I have some conceptual problems with mixed state(= statistical mixture?) and pure state in QM. - pure state : |Φ> = 1/sqrt2 ( |↑> + |↓> ) - mixed state : ρ = 1/2 ( |↑><↑| + |↑><↑| ) What is the difference...- ssampak
