    Thermodynamics: Freezing Point Depression

Maybe I'll put it this way. Here's a simpler version: 20.0 g xylitol (C5H12O5) is dissolved in 1.00 L of water at 25°C. The cryoscopic constant for water in 1.86 °C molal-1 If the solution is chilled to -25°C, how much ice (in g) will separate out? I hope it's clear to you. Please help:)

Thanks for your reply, Borek. But how about the mass of ice? It won't change, will it?

Maybe I wasn't making the question clear enough... Here's what I find in my textbook: So why don't we use the last equation instead? Thanks.

What Is the Use of Families of Straight Lines in Geometry?

This is my second post on PF =) I want to ask what is the use of Families of straight lines? I am thinking of A Family of Straight Lines Passing Through the Intersection of Two Lines. We have the equation: L1+kL2=0 where L1=L2=0 and k is a variable, right? But is it said that L2 is not...

Unveiling the Mystery of Crystal Babies

Hi there, this is my first ever post in PF. Have you heard of crystal babies? They have been very popular among Taiwan students. And I have googled some information and some people said they consisted of "arcrylate polymers". They also said they are similar to Magic/Crystal Soil. Would...
