Sterilizing Medical Devices that contain Electronic Components
Ethylene Oxide gas is used for sterilization in hospitals for things that can not withstand steam sterilization. Edit: Problem is that IT IS EXPLOSIVE, so you better farm out that part of the project to the professionals! Cheers, Tom- Tom.G

To quote a horror movie from many decades ago, I'm BAAAaaak! Sort of anyhow. The tool bar for creating posts has disappeared so I can't preview this. Blind clicking in the Tools area has no effect. UPDATE, the tool bar shows when Editing this post. Also, when creating a post, highlighting a...- Tom.G

Automotive I need help with opening a large gas filter separator without a crane
Assuming it is hinged somewhere, can not tell from the photo. Perhaps a counterweight? Or 'gas damper struts'? http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=gas+damper+struts Or a large 'lead screw'? http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=lead+screw+mechanism Cheers, Tom- Tom.G

(I) [Inquiry] Analyzing a Commercial Smart Glass Product
Sorry about the late reply! As for the low brightness/contrast, that would be due to the layer of polarizing plastic. This blocks transmission of about 75% the light. Unfortunately, since the members here are volunteers, and many long retired, we are not in a position to do a complete product...- Tom.G

(I) [Inquiry] Analyzing a Commercial Smart Glass Product
It is a sheet of Liquid Crystal, as used in flat-screen video displays. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liquid-crystal_display There are also Liquid Crystal sheets available that change color with a magnetic field. Kinda fun to play with -- and can (could?) be used to display the "ones" and...- Tom.G

Chemical/Paint Any ideas about food safe glues for cracks?
Here are a couple articles on ingesting Superglue. The 2nd one says if you eat and/or swallow it (before it cures), right away you should call either the national emergency response number (911 in the USA), or the Poison Help hotline (1-800-222-1222 in the USA)...- Tom.G

'How Does Your Garden Grow' thread - raised beds
A step up from waterproof liners, which can get damaged over the years, would be pressure-treated wood to resist decay when used outdoors. https://cen.acs.org/business/consumer-products/What-is-pressure-treated-lumber-how-does-it-forestall-decay/100/i9 (above, and many more, found with...- Tom.G

Can an axle connected to a wheel transmit momentum to the plate to which it is attached?
When the lubrication fails and under high loads or high speeds, the bare metal shaft scrapes against the bare bearing material. With no protective oxide or lubricant film between them, the two metals then cold-weld1 together. This usually starts on the microscopic level and rapidly increases...- Tom.G
