Question about 12au7 headphone amp
Thanks for the help everyone. Some very good info. So this amps tube is sort of a preamp (not being driven hard. and obviously not at 12V) and really the greatest amplification is being done by the Fet? does that mean the tubes kind of just a buffer?- Weightofananvil

Question about 12au7 headphone amp
Hey, I'm building this simple tube amplifier amplifier as a warm up to some hopefully bigger and better audio tube projects. http://diyaudioprojects.com/Solid/12AU7-IRF510-LM317-Headamp/ I realize the LM-317 is configured as a charge pump but I don't exactly understand its purpose, Could...- Weightofananvil

How to Handle Data from a Motor Encoder with C in Arduino?
Hi Everyone, I'm coding an circuit in arduino that reads a sensor to gauge a motors RPM. I have the arduino reading the speed and blinking an LED. Now I need some way of taking that data reading it for say half a second, perform calculations to double the count (to make it per minute) send the...- Weightofananvil

Next step C coding for electrical engineer Stuff
Okay, I have taken a digital logic class and we used altera quartus and the cyclone FPGA. Is there any cheap ones you recommend? any specific programs? We did mostly block diagram style programs ending with the architecture of a basic computer/cpu. I've heard libraries are a killer and that its...- Weightofananvil

Electronic Design component selection intuition
Thanks baluncore, That seems to make sense, and be very obvious . In my electronics program I'm learning about all these components and then deciding on little things I can build to apply this knowledge. To help I purchased a few component kits and now have a healthy handful of different kinds...- Weightofananvil

Next step C coding for electrical engineer Stuff
hi, I'm an electrical engineering student and have studied c programming. Everything I was doing however was just to familiarize myself with c and the language, therefore just executable programs that could create a database, or make an array or data to programs that aided me like a resistor...- Weightofananvil

Electronic Design component selection intuition
Hey, So I've taken a course learning theory to mosfets, Jfets, transistors etc. Recently we did an amplifier project with a summing component as a final project. I chose which component pretty randomly. I'm a little misled as to which component is better in certain circumstances. BJT's are...- Weightofananvil

Small Amp Project (Tube/power stage info needed)
I worked out of a recording studio that had a working hammond and leslie speaker. I used the leslie once to give effect to an acoustic guitar part once. It was real neat. But I think moving that thing in the studio weighed more than my car. Thanks for all the information. If I stray from...- Weightofananvil

JFET, Mosfet, BJT Design Question
Thanks for all your replies guys/gals. Appreciate it. LvW + JP - I do know the consequences. I'm still unsure in a BJT, Mosjet, Jfet circuit how I would calculate what capacitor to use as a decoupling capacitor. I know RC makes up the time constant but which resistor values in say a CS circuit...- Weightofananvil

Small Amp Project (Tube/power stage info needed)
Hey, Im in the process of building my final project for an engineering electronics course. The requirements: - 3 Inputs - mixer stage - driver stage 0.5 - 3watts ( my speaker is 3 watts) - output to 8 ohm speaker. Questions - Anyone have any good links regarding helping pick BJT, Jfet or...- Weightofananvil

JFET, Mosfet, BJT Design Question
Hey, Sorry for not being clear, For example I'm trying to just make a JFet amp circuit. Its biased in the middle just so I can make sure it works. Attached is my calculations. Output measured is Vd = 7.44V Vs = 4.73V Vg = 2.238V For Ac: Originally I wanted to use 200mVp but My function...- Weightofananvil

No :-( We've done diodes, BJT's, Jfets and I've gone ahead a bit and looked at mosfets because they are similar.- Weightofananvil
