N-body simulation - straight line orbits
Homework Statement The problem is your typical N-body simulation, implemented using Python and Numpy. The implementation specifically calls for using the Euler-Cromer method. For this particular case I used the Sun and the first 4 planets of the solar system. Essentially the problem is I'm...- XanMan

Bernoulli Equation and Velocities
Yes, that's what I was thinking as well - it's the velocity *just* as it is leaving the pipe. Sorry for all the questions lately, but this was in my first university physics exam and I'm a bit scared about it to be honest! Never actually properly had physics before - quite a challenge but I'm...- XanMan

Ah, how silly of me...I neglected to use ##v_0 = \sqrt{2gh}##! Thanks DocAl : - )- XanMan

Bernoulli Equation and Velocities
Homework Statement A cubic wine box of dimensional length ##h## has a small tap at an angle at the bottom. When the box is full and is lying on a horizontal plane with the tap open, the wine comes out with a speed ##v_0##. i) What is the speed of the wine if the box is half empty? (Neglect...- XanMan

Scaling The Solar System By A Factor ##\alpha##
In which case ##T' = T## - thus ##T## is independent of ##\alpha##? What is wrong in my reasoning that results in me obtaining ##T \propto \cfrac{1}{\alpha}##?- XanMan

Scaling The Solar System By A Factor ##\alpha##
Thank you! I'm not quite sure what you mean exactly. With some reasoning I could have also said that since ##v \propto \alpha##, then ##r \propto \alpha##. It thus follows that ##T \propto \cfrac{1}{\alpha}##.- XanMan

Scaling The Solar System By A Factor ##\alpha##
I am given the solution to the first part of the problem, however not the second part - would appreciate for someone to double check my work! Cheers. 1. Homework Statement If a scale model of the solar system is made using materials of the same respective average density as the sun and...- XanMan

Find The Percent Change In K.E. Of Rod Hit By Putty
I'm trying to solve this problem, however I'm unsure if my reasoning is correct - I do agree with the answer, but something seems wrong to me in my reasoning. 1. Homework Statement A rod is on a frictionless surface, and is defined by the length L and mass M. It is hit on one end by a piece...- XanMan
