How Do You Calculate the Frequency of Green Light from Its Wavelength?

good lord...people here? Do they not understand science...? Theory in science means FACT. RAGE! Sigh...I mean theory of gravity anyone?

How Do You Calculate the Frequency of Green Light from Its Wavelength?

correct and I love your tagline pengwuino amazingly some physicists I know that don't believe in evolution...truly I fear for my country and the world...

How to Calculate the Enthalpy of Formation of HCl?

the second list are all of those energies of solvation? What level of chemistry is this? You may need to look at Hess's law for this problem but usually you don't use energy of solvation in these... Do you have an equation for the formation that you want to use..are they looking for HCl...

Basic chem. atoms and their electrons.

eh pmsrw...you must be going to very high level chemistry...normally no electrons don't exist between shells. One of the basics of quantum mechanics is that electrons can only absorb and release energy in certain amounts. They can only exist at certain energies not between them since energy is...

When does an atom become a cation and an anion?

The chemistry text is probably wanting you to show that they can do both. Carbon can go to positive or negative depending on what it is with. However in reality it does mostly form covalent compounds as opposed to ionic ones. Oh and it is electrons that it gains or looses not ions. It...

Vant Hoff factor problem. General chem 2

Are they asking for the increase in the boiling point...or the NEW boiling point? The formula you have gives you the increase but you have to add the number you get to the original boiling point. So here you would add your answer to the boiling point of water. Common mistake people forgetting...

How do i determine which valence is being used (balancing equations)

pmsrw is correct. If they are giving it to you as a free metal the valence is 0. Otherwise you look at the compound it is in.

Why Does Ascorbic Acid Concentration Change Over Time?

yup need more detail. If you are talking about a pill (though why you would be taking asorbic acid I don't know) the answer would be not much over long periods. In a solution (dissolved in water) it would get more concentrated as the water evaporates. Otherwise need more detail..

Find the amount of Barium Sulphate precipitated

yea if they are having you make the equations the chlorine water is a little confusing. Do they mean aqueous hydrochloric acid? You also need to use the equation for the burning of sulfur in oxygen (a reaction I do not recommend trying to do).

What is the size difference between Hydrogen and Oxygen

think about moles, and think about what you know about the avagodro's law of gases.

How can I solve two challenging GRE math problems without a calculator?

Thanks, having issues in general with data analysis problems so any general tips you can give with those would be great. Would like to get into the 600 range which should be the top 50%. Any comments on the octagon problem did I approach that one correctly?

How can I solve two challenging GRE math problems without a calculator?

ok on the first 1, the longest side of the triangle if you make it x then the shorter side would have to be 1/2 x since it is the midpoint. you can then you Pythagorean Therom to get x and both sides of the square (which are 2) so then the square has an area of 4. You can find the area of the...

Help with solving equations for x

hmm so on 1 after multiplying it out you then complete the square to solve for x since that will give you an actual number on the right side? Interesting wrinkle since as long as it is a number this is how you solve these type of problems factor and then set equal to the number or 0 and solve...

Help with solving equations for x

On number 1 can you just not set both factors equal to greater than 0 and solve for x? Ah completing the square! so much fun.

How can I solve two challenging GRE math problems without a calculator?

expect I am going to have to skip ones like this during the test but thought I would get help with them anyway just for learning from the engineers here. Also putting both problems here in one post, hope that is ok. Problem 1 15 in problem150002.pdf Homework Statement Quantitative...
