Something other than Apostol's book which I find lacking in motivation. Not too advanced, since it is my first encounter with ANT.

I found this book excellent to get the basics down.

Do you just find it as a boring read, or terse?

Terse. I checked other books and I didn't find one that was better. I am using this book for now and supplementing it with Kedlaya's notes, and for Dirichlet's theorem I found a nice exposition by Knapp.
 

Thread 'Complex analysis or calculus?'

Im currently reading mathematics for physicists by Philippe Dennery and André Krzywicki, and I’m understanding most concepts however I think it would be better for me to get a book on complex analysis or calculus to better understand it so I’m not left looking at an equation for an hour trying to figure out what it means.
