How did you find PF?
Google search
Hello all!
My name is Jeff, and let me start by saying I am NOT a physicist, and not that great of a mathematician either. I've been curious about the universe since I was a kid.

I don't have a degree, and I had some ideas about physics but I don't know if they are really things that work out the way they would in my head. Found this forum and thought I would do a little reading and see what comes out. I would probably need help from time to time understanding the 'physics' world because there are so many terms that are foreign to me.

I also have some spinal cord damage that causes my left and right hands to operate at different speeds, so bear with me if you see letters transposed in words. :)

Glad to meet you all and hope to learn some interesting things!

Welcome to PF; it's good to have you here.

We don't allow the discussion of personal theories, but we do allow and encourage discussion of mainstream science. Enjoy PF!

Yea I kinda picked up on that :). Since I cant link/discuss my publishing's, I'm not sure I'll make much headway. I thought i had solved some pretty serious issues but I have no independent ways to verify.

You're published? Like in a peer-reviewed paper?

I have some preprint publishing's on zenodo, but I am hitting brick walls trying to get through research gate, arXiv, or any of the 'serious' places. I don't have a degree and I dont work at any college so theres no way to get into some of those sites to use them without a referral, which again I cant get.

As I said I am not a physicist, just a guy that likes solving things. I am a prolific software engineer and even though I might not understand everything in the calculs terms I know what my software does do, so I rely on others to help get the equations for a paper to be 'proper'. I've learned more new words in the last week than I cared too. :). A lot of the terminology and 'proper' things are foreign to me.

I have what you might say is a plain language understanding of the universe, and I can write software to perform the calculations. However I only understand the full equation if its written in C.

I guess bottom line I would like to figure out how to get someone to review the work and review the theory. I'm pretty sure I have good solution for several anomalies, but I know science and it requires a lot of vetting, proofing, and predicting before it becomes an acceptable alternative.

That is a pretty common request at PF, but as you know now we cannot help with that. The best advice I can give you is to look for a professor or graduate student at a local university who you can hire for a few hours of consulting to read through your work and give you feedback.

PF is still the right place to join in conversations about published mainstream science.

It's quite common for a software engineer to believe you can solve outstanding problems in physics or even revolutionise physics.

Professional physicists get a lot of emails from engineers generally on this topic.

It's very unlikely that you discovered anything of value.

Well its possible, I suppose.

Can we discuss MOND/Milgrom specifically how to find a0? I see some threads on it, but from back in May. I assume its ok to participate in those even though its not GR/SR? I don't want to step on anyone's toes.

Imagine someone who has never done any exercises, nor any other physical activity, just sitting on the sofa watching football on the TV. He asks for the world records in weightlifting so that he can break some of them. Is that possible? I'd would say that it is more likely than someone without any training in physics and maths to be able to solve some of the open problems in physics.

Just to give you an idea, you aren't the first person on this site in the last week alone making claims of producing numbers and maths that solves long standing problems. I'm not sure you're even the second or third. (Such theories get deleted here, which is why you won't find them and I can't give you an exact number.)

That's why you run into a brick wall. Nobody has the time to review the huge volume of new "theories" and "solutions" that come from non-experts. As berkeman suggested, you need to pay someone if you want their time. I think Sabine Hossenfelder used to offer that service - not sure if she still does.

I'm not a mod, but the basic rule is that as long as what you're discussing is published in reputable journals and not you trying to sneak your ideas in by the back door it's probably fine. Although you may want to start a new thread referencing the old ones, depending on how much you are continuing the conversation or starting a related topic.

This is a disingenuous comparison.
A better one might be someone who has been playing amateur football, but never gone college or pro though he has been applying for a spot on a team. Makes it slightly less preposterous, no?

To clarify when i wrote 'Well its possible, I suppose.', I meant it in the context of your comment meaning; it is possible i have NOT found anything useful.

The Royal Academy of Science was the only place I could submit it for review. I will wait until that process is finished before I take any further steps.
