LQG propagator: III. The new vertex

"In the first article of this series, we pointed out a difficulty in the attempt to derive the low-energy behavior of the graviton two-point function, from the loop-quantum-gravity dynamics defined by the Barrett-Crane vertex amplitude. Here we show that this difficulty disappears when using the corrected vertex amplitude recently introduced in the literature. In particular, we show that the asymptotic analysis of the new vertex amplitude recently performed by Barrett, Fairbairn and others, implies that the vertex has precisely the asymptotic structure that, in the second article of this series, was indicated as the key necessary condition for overcoming the difficulty."

Many of these papers are from the last quarter of the year, and all but a few so recent they've barely had time to garner citations---ordinarily a helpful sign of how influential a paper is going to be. Though still too early to report counts, I will list a few parenthetically, as a sample, and give the cits links in case anyone wants to check later on.

BTW I'd like to add a Stephon Alexander paper as a "write-in". If you want to put in a plug for it, just post to that effect. I'll add it onto this list.

I think these are the best ones. The first 2 have really might really have deep consequences for all mathematics and most of theories nowadays, including strings. Don't forget that CDT, whose dimensional transion is modeled by the fractal approach, worked started with non critical strings.

I can't really vote if you do not include these 2.

It's not possible to edit a poll so I can't put a box in for you to check. You have posted a "write-in" vote for the Benedetti and Modesto papers, so that will be counted. You can also vote for other choices on the regular poll if you wish.

Earlier I added a paper by Stephon Alexander as a possible write-in. This paper was suggested by atyy after it was too late to include in the regular poll. As I say, there were a lot to choose from this year! :smile:

So far, as of 2 January, the front-runner is Alain Connes' paper with three votes (atyy, humanino, and yrs trly).
So three out of the five people who have responded considered it potentially the most important or most valuable to future research.
The responses also put the spotlight on several other papers, but I will just mention this one for now.
