Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around issues related to air leaking from an unloader valve after installing a new pressure switch in a compressor. Participants explore potential causes for the leak and seek advice on using adjustable pressure switches.

Discussion Character

  • Technical explanation, Debate/contested, Experimental/applied

Main Points Raised

  • One participant reports a leak from the unloader valve after installing a new pressure switch and seeks suggestions for resolution.
  • Another participant suggests that the pressure switch may have been installed incorrectly or could be defective, but requests more detailed information for specific feedback.
  • A different participant echoes the concern about the pressure switch being defective or improperly installed and recommends checking with manufacturers of adjustable pressure switches.
  • A participant mentions having discarded the manual for the pressure switch and indicates that they sought help from someone who advised them to look for an "Adjustable Air Compressor" to address the issue.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally agree that the pressure switch may be defective or improperly installed, but there is no consensus on the specific cause of the air leak or the best solution. Multiple viewpoints on the issue remain unresolved.

Contextual Notes

Limitations include a lack of detailed information about the pressure switch installation and design, as well as the absence of specific brand or model information due to the discarded manual.

I got a new pressure switch and installed it over the weekend. When I turned it on it worked well, and filled up the tanks, however once it turned off air started to leak out of the back of the unloader valve. Have you seen this happen before and do you have any suggestions?

Also, can I use an adjustable pressure switch with my compressor? If yes, what brand is best?

It sounds like the pressure switch was installed incorrectly or was defective. I'm not really able to give any more specific feedback without more detailed information about the design particulars.

I guess, the one you got is defective or not properly installed. Did you ask somebody to check it ? By the way, there are different types of pressure switches. It may also varies in size, model and make. I suggest you try searching for manufacturers of adjustable pressure switches and directly inquire to them.

I thought all is well after I installed and bought the new pressure switch. So, I threw the manual including the box and now I have no way on how I can check the brand and model. What I did is asked someone to come in our house and help me out. Yes, he said I need to look for “Adjustable Air Compressor” to help fix the problem.
