Attempting to retrieve painted image from rusted galvanized sign

hello.
I am wondering if there is anyway to retrieve a painted image from a galvanized sign that has rusted over.
The original logo/name was likely painted in black stencil over galvanized sheet metal. I have not seen it in person yet, but from pictures it looks like image is gone and whole sheet is rusted.
Is there any chemical process to retrieve the outline of the image?

maybe toss it in a bath of aqua regia and see what develops
