What is/are the best school(s) to study physics as an undergraduate? Are there any in Florida?

I can’t list the best schools for physics, but I can tell you a bit about my university, Florida Institute of Technology (a.k.a. Florida Tech or FIT), located in Melbourne, FL (central East coast).

Florida Tech has an excellent Physics & Space Sciences department, one of the largest for undergrads in the nation. Not many have heard of us because we’re such a new school (under 50 years), but we’re growing fast. We’re a small school (5,000 students total, half undergrad half grad) and we’re the only private technical university in the Southeast U.S. We’re located 45 minutes south of Kennedy Space Center, which is a plus. We have a brand new Physical Sciences building that just opened up in January which is dedicated to Chemistry and Physics & Space Sciences labs, classrooms and offices. In about 18 months (when it’s completed) we will house the largest telescope in Florida. We are a research institute in which, in our department and many others, undergrads are required to participate in research in order to graduate.

Other Florida colleges with physics programs (according to schoolguides.com): Jacksonville University, Nova Southeastern University, Palm Beach Atlantic University, University of Tampa, University of West Florida, Barry University, Florida Atlantic University, Florida Southern College, Saint Leo University, University of Central Florida, Bethune-Cookman College, Eckerd College, Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University, Florida International University, Florida State University, Lynn University, Rollins College, Stetson University, University of Florida, University of Miami, University of North Florida, and University of South Florida.
