Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around recommendations for books on Fourier transforms and other transformations, focusing on various levels of understanding and contexts in which these topics can be explored.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Technical explanation, Conceptual clarification

Main Points Raised

  • One participant requests recommendations for books on Fourier transforms and related topics.
  • Another participant suggests a brief manual by James Stewart for understanding Fourier transforms and practicing problems.
  • Additional book suggestions include "An Introduction to Fourier Methods and the Laplace Transform" by Philip Franklin, "Fourier Analysis" by T.W. Korner, and "The Fast Fourier Transform" by E.O. Brigham.
  • A participant asks about the original poster's background and learning goals, indicating that Fourier transforms can be approached from various levels and contexts.
  • Another participant mentions their favorite book on the subject, "Introduction to Fourier analysis and generalized functions" by M. J. Lighthill.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants share various book recommendations without any clear consensus on a single best resource. The discussion remains open-ended regarding the best approach to learning about Fourier transforms.

OK i do not know about specifc books, but i can guide you for a brief manual about Fourier transform which i used it to comrehened it in general and to practice for some problems

it is written by james stewart the author of Calculas early transcendentals

go here and choose Fourier series :)

Thanks Asaad.

I could also suggest
An Introduction to Fourier Methods and the Laplace Transform by Philip Franklin
Fourier Analysis by T.W. Korner
The Fast Fourier Transform by E.O. Brigham

Thanks OldEngr63!

What is your background, and what are you hoping to learn? Fourier transforms can be discussed at many different levels and in a variety of contexts.

My favorite on the subject is

M. J. Lighthill, Introduction to Fourier analysis and generalized functions, Cambridge University Press (1959)
