Calculus 3 Books: Jordan Measure & More

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the search for books covering Jordan measure, specifically mentioning "Loomis and Sternberg" as a key resource available for free on Sternberg's website. Jordan content is identified as the higher-dimensional counterpart to Riemann integration, which is often overlooked in favor of Lebesgue measure due to its complexity. The conversation emphasizes the importance of understanding Jordan measure as a valuable exercise in advanced calculus.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of Riemann integration
  • Familiarity with Lebesgue measure theory
  • Basic knowledge of higher-dimensional calculus
  • Access to "Loomis and Sternberg" textbook
NEXT STEPS
  • Research advanced topics in Jordan measure
  • Explore the differences between Jordan content and Lebesgue measure
  • Study additional resources on higher-dimensional calculus
  • Review exercises related to Jordan measure applications
USEFUL FOR

Students and educators in advanced mathematics, particularly those focusing on measure theory and integration techniques in calculus.

the only calculus book i know of treating "jordan measure" i.e. "jordan content", is loomis and sternberg, available free on sternberg's website i believe.

Jordan content is the higher dimensional version of riemann integration, and since it takes a lot of work to develop it, which has to be done over again to get the stronger theory of lebesgue measure, most books skip it. Still it seems useful as an exercise.
