In summary, microstructures can be analyzed by anyone, but it requires specialized knowledge, training, and equipment. A microstructure refers to the arrangement and characteristics of different phases and constituents within a material at a microscopic level. The microstructure of steel AISI D2 can be analyzed through various techniques, such as optical microscopy, SEM, and TEM. Analyzing the microstructure is important in determining the mechanical, physical, and chemical properties of the material. Factors such as composition, cooling rate, heat treatments, impurities, processing conditions, and mechanical stresses can affect the microstructure of steel AISI D2.

I am doing a work in Materials, and we were supposed to do an austemper (bainitic temper) in the steel AISI D2.
I got this microstructures, but i can't recognize what's in it.

Can someone help?

have you tried looking through the asm handbook of metals (i think metallography volume has changed once or twice). 2004 is volume 9. at a glance i would say carbides in a ferrite matrix, but I am not sure about the matrix.

The matrix would be bainite.
