Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the claims made by a Gibraltar-based company, ENG8, regarding their catalyzed fusion technology, specifically their EnergiCells, which reportedly achieve significant breakthroughs in power generation through low energy nuclear reactions (LENR). Participants express skepticism about the validity of these claims and draw parallels to previous cold fusion controversies.

Discussion Character

  • Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • One participant expresses skepticism about the claims made by ENG8 regarding their EnergiCells, suggesting it resembles previous cold fusion claims that lacked credibility.
  • Another participant notes that the topic of cold fusion and LENR is on the forum's list of banned topics, indicating a history of contentious debate surrounding these subjects.
  • A later reply mentions that the original article link is now down, implying that the source may have retracted or questioned the validity of the claims made about the technology.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally express skepticism about the claims of ENG8, with some explicitly comparing it to cold fusion controversies. However, there is no consensus on the validity of the claims or the implications of the technology.

Contextual Notes

The discussion references the forum's guidelines regarding banned topics, indicating a limitation in the scope of acceptable discourse on LENR and cold fusion.

Stumbled across this article this morning…

[link to deleted page deleted]

A Gibraltar-based company specializing in catalyzed fusion has achieved a significant breakthrough in power generation. ENG8, which has been developing a range of catalyst fusion reactors called EnergiCells, achieved a world-first milestone in the race for fusion energy.

Their system, based on low energy nuclear reactions (LENR) technology, is reported to be capable of operating indefinitely without any external input power.

Color me highly skeptical, even if they state that another firm has validated the claim.

The company also claimed that previous independent validations, carried out by IEP (Portugal) and other renowned test laboratories, have also proved that EnergiCells produce net energy with safe levels of emissions that are well within EU limits.”

This feels like another “cold fusion” not-quite-scam.

Thoughts?

Quick Addition -- here is a link to the specific part of those Forbidden Topics that covers LENR:

It seems that the link is now down - interestingengineering has apparently realized they were fooled.
