AI Thread Summary
A Gibraltar-based company, ENG8, claims to have made a breakthrough in catalyzed fusion with its EnergiCells, which reportedly can generate power indefinitely without external input. The company asserts that independent validations from IEP in Portugal and other labs confirm the reactors produce net energy with safe emissions. However, skepticism surrounds these claims, likening them to past "cold fusion" controversies. The discussion highlights concerns about the legitimacy of LENR technology, leading to its classification as a banned topic in some forums. The thread was ultimately closed due to the contentious nature of the subject.

A Gibraltar-based company specializing in catalyzed fusion has achieved a significant breakthrough in power generation. ENG8, which has been developing a range of catalyst fusion reactors called EnergiCells, achieved a world-first milestone in the race for fusion energy.

Their system, based on low energy nuclear reactions (LENR) technology, is reported to be capable of operating indefinitely without any external input power.

Color me highly skeptical, even if they state that another firm has validated the claim.

The company also claimed that previous independent validations, carried out by IEP (Portugal) and other renowned test laboratories, have also proved that EnergiCells produce net energy with safe levels of emissions that are well within EU limits.”

This feels like another “cold fusion” not-quite-scam.

Thoughts?

Quick Addition -- here is a link to the specific part of those Forbidden Topics that covers LENR:

It seems that the link is now down - interestingengineering has apparently realized they were fooled.

Hello everyone, I am currently working on a burnup calculation for a fuel assembly with repeated geometric structures using MCNP6. I have defined two materials (Material 1 and Material 2) which are actually the same material but located in different positions. However, after running the calculation with the BURN card, I am encountering an issue where all burnup information(power fraction(Initial input is 1,but output file is 0), burnup, mass, etc.) for Material 2 is zero, while Material 1...
Hi everyone, I'm a complete beginner with MCNP and trying to learn how to perform burnup calculations. Right now, I'm feeling a bit lost and not sure where to start. I found the OECD-NEA Burnup Credit Calculational Criticality Benchmark (Phase I-B) and was wondering if anyone has worked through this specific benchmark using MCNP6? If so, would you be willing to share your MCNP input file for it? Seeing an actual working example would be incredibly helpful for my learning. I'd be really...
