Civil engineering OR Electronic Engineering?

Click For Summary

Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the decision-making process for choosing between Civil Engineering and Electronic Engineering as a major. Participants explore factors such as personal interest, potential salary, and the nature of work involved in each field.

Discussion Character

  • Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • One participant expresses confusion about choosing between Civil Engineering and Electronic Engineering, weighing personal interest against potential salary and job conditions.
  • Another participant suggests that if Electronic Engineering is equivalent to Electrical Engineering, it may be the better choice.
  • Some participants argue that if financial considerations are the primary motivation for choosing Civil Engineering, then Electronic Engineering might offer more opportunities for higher earnings and versatility.
  • A later reply indicates a decision to choose Electronic Engineering based on personal interest, suggesting that pursuing a career one enjoys is important for success.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants express differing opinions on the importance of salary versus personal interest in making a decision, indicating that multiple competing views remain on the best choice between the two engineering fields.

Contextual Notes

Participants do not provide specific criteria for what makes an individual suitable for either major, leaving assumptions about personal fit and career satisfaction unresolved.

Now it's my time to choose my major,I will choose from Civil Engeering and Electronic Engineering. In my university,Civil Engeering College is better than Electronic Engineering College,I may get a higher salary if I choose the previous one,but the work may be tougher(I may stay at a very remote place to build a bridge for several mouths, and can't go home). However,I feel I have more interest in Elcetronic Engineering,I feel I am suitable for it,resently I am learning Theoretical Mechanics(A very important course for Civil Engineering),I also think it is interesting...
So I am very confused about it.I wander which kind of person is suitable for learning these two majors,I am good at mathematics, which one do you think is better for me?I am waiting for your suggestions, many thanks!

If Electronics Engineering = Electrical Engineering, go for that one.

If money is the only thing that made you think about Civil E. Go for Electric E. It has a lot of math.versatility and arguably a pathway for even more money then CE.
