Troubleshooting Ion Exchange Membrane Desalination with Comsol - Low Voltage Fix

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The forum discussion focuses on troubleshooting issues with ion exchange membrane desalination simulations in COMSOL Multiphysics. The user experiences errors when inputting higher initial voltages (5V, 7V, 9V) but finds that lower voltages (0.5V, 1V, 1.5V) allow the simulation to run successfully. The discussion highlights the importance of adjusting initial values and checking the equations used in the simulation to resolve convergence issues.

PREREQUISITES
  • COMSOL Multiphysics 5.6 or later
  • Understanding of ion exchange membrane technology
  • Basic knowledge of electrical parameters in simulations
  • Familiarity with numerical convergence in computational modeling
NEXT STEPS
  • Investigate COMSOL Multiphysics parameter settings for ion exchange membrane simulations
  • Learn about numerical convergence techniques in COMSOL
  • Explore the impact of voltage variations on ion exchange processes
  • Review error handling and troubleshooting methods in COMSOL simulations
USEFUL FOR

Researchers and engineers working on desalination technologies, simulation specialists using COMSOL, and anyone involved in optimizing ion exchange membrane processes.

hello to every on
i m trying to desalinate seawater with an ion exchange membrane.
the initial voltage of my simulation is 5 volt and it increase to 7 and 9Volt
when i insert that data to Comsol it doesn't work and give the below error!
http://www.iran-eng.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=223509&d=1412972316
but when i insert the low voltage,for e.g 0.5 , 1, 1.5 Volt ,it run!
help me to fixed it

the pic of error:

You can try to change the initial values. Or check the equations you want to solve. Without (much) more details, it is impossible to tell what went wrong.

i checked it
in the" study => stationary => parameter value list" if i inter the(0.5,0.5,1.5) the solutioncan converged.
but when i inter (5,7,9) this error happened!.
I really confused!
