In summary, the cost estimate for creating your own website to sell your own product will depend on your specific needs and can range from simply installing and setting up a platform like WordPress with WooCommerce, which can cost around $300 per year, to more complex options with additional features and customization. There are many free and paid shopping cart software options available, and tutorials can be found in bookstores or online. It is also important to consider securing your server to protect against potential hacking.

I want to create my own website to sell my own product. What would be the cost estimate for this? I don't want to create a store on another domain it needs to be on my site.
I'm pretty clueless about any of this. I do know programming but websites are far from being my specialty.

Thanks in advance

Depends on what you want. You could use for example WordPress with WooCommerce. They say more than a quarter of all internet stores use that. Might need only installation and setup, with some tweaking and no coding... but it really depends on what you need.

So I just checked WordPress and it would cost me about $300 per year for a website. Is this a good deal?

Sounds expensive to me.

PHP should help you set up a database for the products you sell.

I wager that a visit to your local bookstore will help you find a tutorial in book form.

And you may want to seriously think about securing your server, wherever it lives, to avoid information hacking. Maybe Amazon or other cloud companies have a "store as a service" of some sort that includes security.
