SUMMARY

The discussion centers on creating a sphere from a spline curve in 3D modeling. The user is attempting to construct a 3D polyhedron using heptagons, rhomboids, and pentagons and seeks to determine the radius of the inscribed sphere. The user has already drawn a spline curve to represent the flattened sphere but requires guidance on converting this curve into a sphere. Specific modeling programs were not mentioned, indicating a need for general techniques applicable across various software.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of 3D modeling concepts
  • Familiarity with spline curves in geometry
  • Knowledge of polyhedron construction
  • Basic skills in using 3D modeling software
NEXT STEPS
  • Research techniques for converting spline curves to 3D shapes in Blender
  • Learn about inscribed spheres and their calculations in polyhedra
  • Explore the use of NURBS modeling in Autodesk Maya
  • Investigate the creation of polyhedra using heptagons and rhomboids in 3ds Max
USEFUL FOR

3D modelers, geometry enthusiasts, and anyone interested in advanced polyhedron construction techniques.

I'm good with geometry, but I've never delved into this part of it. I'm a 3d modeller and I'm trying to create a 3d polyhedron using heptagons, rhomboids, and pentagons and all I need to find out is the radius of the inscribed sphere I'm creating. I drew a spline curve to map the flattened sphere of it. Now all I need to do is create a sphere from the curve, and I have no clue how to do this. Can anyone help with this?
