Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the weak interaction and its behavior at various distances, with a focus on finding relevant measurements and literature. Participants explore concepts related to scattering processes and the implications of higher dimensions in quarks.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Technical explanation, Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • One participant seeks measurements for the weak interaction at different distances and requests suggestions for search terms or relevant papers.
  • Another participant notes that distances become problematic at scales relevant to the weak interaction and mentions the Yukawa potential in scattering processes, prompting a request for clarification on the original intent.
  • A different participant expresses interest in finding evidence of higher dimensions in quarks.
  • A follow-up question seeks clarification on what is meant by "higher dimensions" in this context.
  • One participant points out that searches for extra dimensions are typically conducted at colliders like ATLAS and CMS.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

The discussion contains multiple competing views and remains unresolved, particularly regarding the interpretation of distances in the context of weak interactions and the implications of higher dimensions.

Contextual Notes

Participants have not fully defined the assumptions surrounding the concept of distance in relation to the weak interaction, nor have they resolved the mathematical implications of the Yukawa potential.

I'm trying to find measurements for the weak interaction at various distances. Any suggests for search terms or relevant paper would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Dan

Distances are a problematic concept at scales where the weak interaction is relevant, but in principle you get a Yukawa potential for scattering processes. What exactly do you want to do?

I'm trying to find evidence of higher dimensions in the quarks .

What does that mean?

Searches for extra dimensions are done at colliders. ATLAS, CMS.
