SUMMARY

David Reich is a leading expert in population genetics, focusing on the genetic history of human groups both past and present. His work is situated in an exploratory phase, emphasizing discovery and mapping of genetic variation across populations. The discussion clarifies that David Reich's research is distinct from unrelated figures like David Icke or Wilhelm Reich. The video presentation of David Reich is noted for its clarity and professionalism, comparable to the style of Robert Sapolsky.

PREREQUISITES

  • Population genetics concepts and terminology
  • Human evolutionary biology and genetic ancestry analysis
  • Familiarity with genetic mapping techniques
  • Understanding of scientific communication and lecture presentation styles

NEXT STEPS

  • Study David Reich’s published research papers on ancient DNA analysis
  • Explore genetic mapping tools used in population genetics
  • Watch full-length lectures by David Reich for deeper insights
  • Compare methodologies in population genetics with those used by Robert Sapolsky

USEFUL FOR

Geneticists, anthropologists, evolutionary biologists, and students interested in human population genetics and the history of human genetic diversity will benefit from this discussion and David Reich’s work.

Here is a short video by David Reich. He is one of the top experts in the world on population genetics of different groups in the present and past.
It is short video and explains how he got into the field.
This field is in an exploratory phase in its development. Most things now involve discovering new things.
Like before there were maps of everything. This video expresses that.

I was about to have a gag reflex but I seem to have confused this quite serious researcher with David Icke and his reptile conspiracy theory and/or Wilhelm Reich (best known for his "The Mass Psychology of Fascism" and his "orgone energies"). o0)

It's quite sad that I read so much crud which gets in the way of the serious stuff. But at least now I can catch up!

He reminds me a little of Sapolsky in that he never says "errr" or "aah", but that's perhaps due to how the video is cut/edited. I'll have to hear him during one of his lectures.
