Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around decoding a message represented by a unique code. Participants explore the relationship between the visual representation of characters and their corresponding English alphabet letters, focusing on the decoding process and the underlying mechanisms of the code.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory
  • Technical explanation
  • Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • One participant requests assistance in understanding what the code says, noting the use of a freehand tool and the boldness of the first character.
  • Another participant suggests that the message corresponds one-to-one with English alphabets, hinting that the words are familiar to the audience.
  • A participant proposes a numbering system for the characters and speculates about the expected phrase based on this numbering.
  • One participant emphasizes that the medium itself is significant to the message.
  • Another participant agrees with a previous answer and suggests that discovering the mechanism behind the character generation would be more interesting, noting the simplicity of the code once understood.
  • A detailed explanation is provided regarding the character origins, linking them to a tic-tac-toe board and other geometric shapes, while also pointing out a potential error regarding a missing dot on the letter "P."
  • A participant expresses agreement with the explanation but questions the accuracy of the image due to the missing dot, which is later acknowledged as a mistake by another participant.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally agree on the mechanism behind the character generation, but there is a specific disagreement regarding the accuracy of the visual representation, particularly concerning the missing dot on the letter "P."

Contextual Notes

There are unresolved assumptions regarding the accuracy of the visual representation and the implications of the missing dot on the decoding process.

Sorry for my poor use of free hand tool. All lines to be considered straight.First character has been drawn bold but it does not matter.

Hint: This message is one to one correspondance between English alphabets and the alphabets you can see in the shape above.

Sorry, I can't write so long a text so as to be applied to frequency analysis. Anyway the words written are so familiar to you all!

If we numbered them from 1 to 11 left to right (one character is repeated), then (if I'm right), you might expect this phrase to be followed with the characters 6, 8, 11.

For this puzzle, the medium is truly the message.

Jimmy's answer is correct. It would be more interesting if you could find the underlying mechanism to generate these characters. It looks so simple when you know it. Obviously not so simple to guess it first.

A-I are from a tic-tac-toe board with the letters in the squares. J-R are the same but with a dot in each square (but the P in physics is missing its dot. S-V are from a diamond that has been cut into 4 pieces and W-Z are the same with dots.

I agree that makes sense, but if that's true, then isn't there a mistake in the image? Looks like the "P" is missing a dot.

It's my mistake.
