Physicsforums had been responding extremely slowly today. On more than one session on the forum. Right now the forum seems to be its typical snappy self.

(Windows 10 desktop, Firefox 153.0.3)

(Thanks for informing us, post #4)

It was slow for me earlier today, but is back to normal quick response time now.

Yikes. Thanks for defending us on the front lines!

It's AI bots slamming the site non stop. I'm trying to keep up with ip bans.

Cloudflare FTW, bots killed CF for several weeks last year, IP bans were not enough.

Somethings are attacking the forum again. Even with the apparent Physicsforums Security Check in place. I do not know how to imagine other ways to check for attackers and non-attackers trying to enter to PF. Right about now, performance is slow but waitable. ............. but then, "server did not respond in time,...."

Nice you "found the culprit" but what does that graph mean? Is horizontal scale representing time points, and then we see a spike at about 7:00? What is the units for the vertical axis? But "culprit" would indicate similar to "source".

Anyway, forum is very responsive in the last few hours.

mean we're blocking a lot of bot traffic that was taking server capacity
