To find the number x where the product of 2 and x equals 12 minus x, the equation 2x = 12 - x is established. By adding x to both sides, the equation simplifies to 3x = 12. Dividing both sides by 3 yields x = 4. Thus, the number that satisfies the condition is 4.

If you could please help me with this, thank you.

Call that number "x". Then "the product of 2 and a number" is 2x. "12 subtract the number" is 12- x. They are the same: 2x= 12- x.

To solve for x, start by adding x to both sides. What do you get?

I have been insisting to my statistics students that for probabilities, the rule is the number of significant figures is the number of digits past the leading zeros or leading nines. For example to give 4 significant figures for a probability: 0.000001234 and 0.99999991234 are the correct number of decimal places. That way the complementary probability can also be given to the same significant figures ( 0.999998766 and 0.00000008766 respectively). More generally if you have a value that...
