Homework Statement


A new drug is in trial, and it is found that the drug will cause adverse effects on some patient.
5% will have diarrhoea and 3% develop a rash after taking the drug. Also, 7% of patient have either diarrhoea, rash or both after taking the drug. Need to find the probability of patient have diarrhoea, the probability of patient develop rash and the total probability of both.

2. The attempt at a solution
p(patient have diarrhoea after drug) = 0.05
p(patient develop rash AFETR DRUGE) = 0.03

what i do not get is the "Also, 7% of patient have either diarrhoea, rash or both after taking the drug." Would drawing a Venn diagram help? Need help please

Yes, indeed. Drawing a Venn diagram would help. Draw one and see if you can get the overlap just right to make all the numbers work.
