AI Thread Summary
Installing Root Explorer can be challenging, prompting users to seek alternative file management apps for accessing the root directory on Android devices. While ES Explorer has been noted for its bloatware issues in the free version, other options like File Manager are recommended for their functionality. Android's flexibility allows users to easily transfer files between devices via USB, and there are numerous apps available for root file access. Resources for finding both free and paid file management apps include articles from Android Authority and Tom's Guide, which provide comprehensive lists of recommended tools for managing Android file systems effectively.

Hi All,
I am having trouble installing Root Explorer on my phone. Anyone know of any other free/cheap app that would
allow me to search through my phone's root directory? Or, is there some other way I can find a file within an app
on my phone, given the very primitive default file manager in Android phones?
Thanks.

A big advantage of Android is that it allows every user the freedom to access their device's file system. File transfers between a computer and smartphone or tablet are as simple as plugging in a USB cable and firing up your desktop file manager. There are multiple apps that you can use to access your root file. And they sure don't go back on. So, in the absence of a longer-term solution that might involve a replacement, is there any way I can activate the power button, like with a paperclip or wire or something? It looks...
