AI Thread Summary
Niraj Aryal from Nepal is seeking guidance on applying for a Master's degree in Applied Physics in Canada. Key requirements for foreign students include an honours degree, GRE test scores, and letters of recommendation. Several universities in Ontario, such as the University of Toronto, University of Waterloo, Western University, and University of Ottawa, are mentioned as potential options. Scholarship availability varies based on academic performance, experience, and financial need. There is a query about the student visa application process and whether Canada is celebrating a student year in 2010, but it is clarified that even if such an initiative exists, it is unlikely to significantly alter admission and scholarship policies, as institutions already operate within their enrollment capacities and budget constraints.

Most schools require an honours degree, GRE tests, and letters of recommendation. Here are some links for some schools in Ontario to get a better picture:
http://www.physics.utoronto.ca/graduate"
http://www.physics.uwaterloo.ca/"
http://www.physics.uwo.ca/graduate/index.html" (London, Ontario)
http://www.physics.uottawa.ca/pos/programs_graduate.html"

The amount of money you get from the school and/or government depends on your grades, experience, and financial needs.

Hi frens,
Can someone help me telling the general criterion for applying students visa in Canada. Is it true that Canada is celebrating student's year for 2010?If that would be the case, will the colleges be somewhat liberal in granting admission and scholarship??

I've not heard of such a thing, but even if it were the case, the colleges can't be much more liberal with admissions and scholarships, as they already admit their capacity of students and spend all of the money allocated for scholarships.

TL;DR Summary: I want to do a PhD in applied math but I hate group theory, is this a big problem? Hello, I am a second-year math and physics double major with a minor in data science. I just finished group theory (today actually), and it was my least favorite class in all of university so far. It doesn't interest me, and I am also very bad at it compared to other math courses I have done. The other courses I have done are calculus I-III, ODEs, Linear Algebra, and Prob/Stats. Is it a...
