AI Thread Summary
Horizontal gears with upward-pointing teeth, known as face gears, do exist but are less common than conical gears due to their efficiency. While they can be custom manufactured, they are not readily available on major gear supply websites like SDP-SI or Boston Gear. Alternatives such as bevel gears or ring and pinion systems may be more practical for certain applications. The discussion highlights the niche use of face gears and the challenges in sourcing them. Custom manufacturing is likely necessary for those seeking face gears.

Yup, although not commonly used as conical gears do their job better.

They would probably have to be custom manufactured. Can you not use another type, like bevel gears or ring & pinion?

Hi all, i have some questions about the tesla turbine: is a tesla turbine more efficient than a steam engine or a stirling engine ? about the discs of the tesla turbine warping because of the high speed rotations; does running the engine on a lower speed solve that or will the discs warp anyway after time ? what is the difference in efficiency between the tesla turbine running at high speed and running it at a lower speed ( as fast as possible but low enough to not warp de discs) and: i...
