SUMMARY

The discussion focuses on creating a Flying Shoebox Cargo Project for a High School Physics I class. Key components include the necessity of two wings, a horizontal stabilizer, and a vertical stabilizer to ensure flight. The project aims to safely transport eggs, emphasizing experimentation as a crucial part of the design process. Participants are encouraged to explore various aerodynamic principles to achieve successful flight.

PREREQUISITES
  • Basic understanding of aerodynamics
  • Knowledge of aircraft components (wings, stabilizers)
  • Familiarity with physics project guidelines
  • Experience with experimental design and testing
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the principles of aerodynamics in model aircraft
  • Explore materials suitable for building lightweight structures
  • Learn about the design and function of aircraft stabilizers
  • Investigate methods for protecting fragile cargo during flight
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for high school students, physics educators, and hobbyists interested in model aircraft design and experimental physics projects.

Hey, I was just referred to Physics Forums by a friend. I am not sure if this is in the correct forum, please movie if necessary.

I just received a project for my High School Physics I class.

I have to create a Flying Shoebox Cargo Project.

This is the rubric:

I don't understand how to make it... any ideas?

It's an aircraft, isn't it? You're going to need two wings, a horizontal stabilizer, and a vertical stabilizer.

I'm not going to tell you how to keep the eggs safe, as that seems to be the whole purpose of the project. It looks like it's time to experiment!
