Many users express frustration with companies like PayPal and eBay for their lack of responsiveness and accountability in customer service, particularly regarding disputes over transactions. A recent experience highlighted issues with PayPal's claims department, where representatives provided vague, generalized responses that failed to address specific concerns. Customers reported feeling ignored and receiving no meaningful resolution, often leading to disputes being decided in favor of sellers without adequate justification. The discussions suggest that companies should take more responsibility for the products sold through their platforms, as they profit from these transactions. Overall, there is a growing sentiment that existing customer protection policies are insufficient and filled with loopholes, leaving consumers feeling powerless.

Regarding small claims court, and missing a day of work:

Often the other person will feel exactly the same, and not want to miss any work, and/or decide it's not worth fighting. If you submit to them a notice to appear, they may just cave if it's not worth fighting about.
