97° F this afternoon. Worried about how to pay the AC electric bill. :oldcry:

It's finally a little cooler after we had a little rain. Now I'm loving 73° F.

We had a second consecutive day of at least 100°F (37.8°C) yesterday and actually hit 101°F (38.3°C) before clouds moved in and the temperature dropped to about 95°F (35°C). We then had a brief light rain, just enough to wet the ground. We're in a mild drought situation locally, so far about 3.75 inches (9.5 cm) behind for this time of year. Waiting to see what happens during the rest of August and into September.

It hasn't cooled much at night, typically 74-76°F (23-24°C), so we have to turn on the A/C to keep the house cool and humidity tolerable. Typically at night the humidity goes up > 80%. During the morning it drops to 60-70% range, and in the afternoon, the humidity is about 30 to 40%.

Some utilities let you average payments over the year.

At 1100, the kitchen thermometer showed 98-99°F (36.7 - 37.2°C). A cloud moved over, and the temperature dropped to 97°F (36.1°C). Humidity is 60%. There is a chance of afternoon thundershowers.

We have a digital thermometer in a window on the SE corner of the house, and it showed 105°F (40.6°C) at 1100. The higher temperature reflects some heating from the morning sun.

Yesterday afternoon (Monday), the temperature peaked reached about 99°F, then clouds moved in and we had a brief downpower. The backyard temperature dropped to about 79°F (26°C). There was a gentle rain for a few minutes, about 10 minutes of heavy rain, then another period of gentle rain. After the rain cloud moved eastward, sun was again shining and the temperature peaked at 100°F (38°C) for about an hour. Humidity was > 50%.

Edit/update - A rain event occurred during the early afternoon. By midday, the temperature reached 101°F (38.3°C). A cloud moved in and the temperature dropped to 95°F (35°C), then a heavier rain cloud formed over us, and the temperature dropped to 79°F (26°C). After the rain, the clouds moved away, and with blue sky above and the sun shining, the temperature increased to about 90-92°F (32-33°C).
