AI Thread Summary
To remove hyperlinks from cut and paste text, users can paste the text into Notepad++, which eliminates unwanted formatting and preserves only the text. Alternatively, the shortcut Shift + Ctrl + V allows users to paste text without formatting across various programs on Windows and Linux, while Mac users can use Option + Shift + Command + V. A Firefox extension called "Copy PlainText" is also available to remove formatting before copying. These methods provide efficient solutions for avoiding embedded links in pasted text. Overall, these techniques save time and simplify the process of managing text formatting.

[Moderator's note: Question spun off from another thread.]

Is there a quick way in PF to remove hyperlinks from cut&paste text? I don't feel good about posting embedded links.

Below, I pasted the text into notepad++ and it preserves text only. So it works, but it is another step, with another software.

The crew of the Dali, the ill-fated vessel that slammed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, are still onboard the cargo ship — and they could be stuck there even longer as authorities continue to assess the situation.

Two pilots and 21 crewmembers were manning the Dali on Tuesday when it rammed into one of the bridge’s support pillars, causing the 1.6-mile span to crumble and plunge into the Patapsco River.

That's what I do. It has the additional advantage of eliminating any unwanted formatting, such as giant header text, etc.

But yes, there is a context menu that pops up when you click on the text that has a 'remove link' option:

Paste text without formatting with Shift + Ctrl + V instead of just Ctrl + V. It should work with any program, not just your browser, and certainly not just with PF. It works with Windows & Linux; Mac uses Option+Shift+Command+V according to the link below.

Wow, thanks Jack, I never knew that one!

"Copy PlainText" is a Firefox extension that removes the formatting from the selection before copying/pasting to/from the Clipboard.

Sunuvagun. You have potentially saved me hours of time, amoritized over the rest of the life. Thank you, sir!

I want to thank those members who interacted with me a couple of years ago in two Optics Forum threads. They were @Drakkith, @hutchphd, @Gleb1964, and @KAHR-Alpha. I had something I wanted the scientific community to know and slipped a new idea in against the rules. Thank you also to @berkeman for suggesting paths to meet with academia. Anyway, I finally got a paper on the same matter as discussed in those forum threads, the fat lens model, got it peer-reviewed, and IJRAP...
This came up in my job today (UXP). Never thought to raise it here on PF till now. Hyperlinks really should be underlined at all times. PF only underlines them when they are rolled over. Colour alone (especially dark blue/purple) makes it difficult to spot a hyperlink in a large block of text (or even a small one). Not everyone can see perfectly. Even if they don't suffer from colour deficiency, not everyone has the visual acuity to distinguish two very close shades of text. Hover actions...
About 20 years ago, in my mid-30s (and with a BA in economics and a master's in business), I started taking night classes in physics hoping to eventually earn the science degree I'd always wanted but never pursued. I found physics forums and used it to ask questions I was unable to get answered from my textbooks or class lectures. Unfortunately, work and life got in the way and I never got further the freshman courses. Well, here it is 20 years later. I'm in my mid-50s now, and in a...
