SUMMARY

The HP50G calculator's Number Solver menu, accessed via Right Shift + 7 (NUM.SLV), can sometimes display an unexpected menu, such as Root Diffe Poly Sys and Tvm, instead of the standard equation-solving options. Users can navigate the menu using soft keys: Soft key #1 for ROOT, Soft key #3 for EQ, and Soft key #1 for SOLVR. This issue may arise from inadvertent changes in settings or modes, such as switching to radians (RAD). Understanding these functionalities is crucial for effective use of the HP50G for solving linear equations.

PREREQUISITES
  • Familiarity with HP50G calculator functions
  • Understanding of linear equations and their solutions
  • Knowledge of calculator modes, specifically RAD and DEG
  • Basic navigation of soft key menus on the HP50G
NEXT STEPS
  • Research HP50G calculator user manual for detailed function descriptions
  • Explore troubleshooting techniques for menu navigation issues on HP50G
  • Learn about the implications of calculator modes (RAD vs DEG) on calculations
  • Investigate alternative methods for solving linear equations using HP50G
USEFUL FOR

Students, educators, and professionals who utilize the HP50G calculator for solving mathematical problems, particularly those focusing on linear equations and advanced functions.

Hey PhysicsForum,

When I press Right Shift + 7 (NUM.SLV) For solving linear equations i usually get the menu but now it shows a different menu instead of the popup menu it now shows Root Diffe Poly Sys and Tvm over the F keys. Can anyone enlighten me as to how to get my menu back?

Thanks a lot!

Respectfully,

I found that menu by dumb luck!.
Also this calculator is poorly laid out at best.
I really am unhappy with it also it loves to switch to RAD's.

Right shift 7
Soft key #1 ROOT
Soft key #3 EQ (will tell you what equation it will solve, or store the one on the stack)
Soft key #1 SOLVR
