Homework Help Overview

The discussion revolves around a problem related to thermodynamics, specifically concerning the removal of heat from water at its freezing point. Participants are evaluating the reliability of an answer presented in a paint document.

Discussion Character

  • Conceptual clarification, Assumption checking

Approaches and Questions Raised

  • Participants are questioning the clarity and correctness of the original answer, particularly regarding the initial conditions of the problem and the implications of heat removal from water.

Discussion Status

The discussion is ongoing, with some participants seeking clarification on the initial state of the water and the process described. There is a recognition of the problem's context, but no consensus has been reached regarding the correctness of the answer.

Contextual Notes

There appears to be confusion regarding the initial conditions of the problem, specifically whether ice is involved or if the focus is solely on water at 0 degrees Celsius. This ambiguity is influencing the discussion.

You answer does not make any sense. The problem is about removing heat from freezing water. Yet you are talking about "ice melted". There was no ice to begin with, what can melt there, especially if heat was removed?

ok so the heat is being removed from the water which is initially at 0 deg celc. is this correct?

Yes, that's what the problem said.
