AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on finding affordable online physics programs in the United States that offer college credits and degrees. One participant suggests MIT's OpenCourseWare as a resource for understanding physics, but notes that it does not provide college credits. Another contributor recommends the National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) from India, which offers free physics lectures. Additionally, platforms like edX and Coursera are mentioned as options for online courses, where users can choose to obtain certificates, although the value of these certificates is uncertain. The conversation emphasizes the need for thorough research on available online physics programs that meet the criteria of affordability and accreditation.

Hello,

Are there any online physics in the states? I was studying at Open U. but it is too expensive! l have no interest in natural science and I know physics requires lab work. Thanks,

Might check out https://ocw.mit.edu/index.htm

From what I know about it. You do not get any college credits taking their courses though. You do it more to get a handle on the subject matter.

Is there any online physics program that I can get credits and degree if I finish all courses?

There are a lot of threads about this, have you done a thorough search?

Thanks everyone.

I can refer to a site that is not US-based, but is available worldwide. It's http://www.nptel.ac.in, National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning, an initiative under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. Go the http://www.nptel.ac.in/course.php page, select physics. A whole lot of lectures will come up. All of them are free. I've added many in PF gallery as well. You can check them too.

You could search courses on edx or coursera and if you enroll in one you can choose whether you'd like to get a certificate or not.
Can't say if the certificates hold much value or not though.
