Learn LaTeX: Getting Started Guide & Tips

I'm looking to teach myself LaTeX and I'm having trouble finding a "getting started" guide. I've downloaded the MiKTeX package already. I guess I'm hoping someone can give me some tips on getting started or recommend a web guide or even a book.

There is something called the, "Not So Short Introduction to LaTeX" and I realize that diazona just linked to it. That's your best start, good luck!

Well, learning Latex is a lot of fun for me. Being a research scholar, Latex is useful for me to produce technical documents in an easy and "beautiful" way. Though I learned Latex from above references mentioned, I would suggest you to join as member of public groups working in Latex, where you can post and get help if you want.

Do you have any ones you particularly recommend?

I am a passive member of this group "latexusersgroup@googlegroups.com" Every day i used to get 2 or 3 messages in my inbox and in my leisure time i go through those posts and it is helping me a lot to know about $\LaTeX$.
There may be other good and active groups as well and a simple google search will help.
