In Material Analysis Methods (Material Characterization), how possible to know if the methods are use or popular? I guess that the list published in the following links https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_materials_analysis_methods contains the full spectrum of material characterization techniques, but for sure some of them are not in use.!

Is the term "Surface Characterization Techniques" is the same as "Material Characterization Techniques"?

The clue is in the name. Surface characterisation techniques characterise the surface of a material. Other techniques may characterise the bulk material as a whole.
