Hello Physics Forums!

I am a new member of our community. My background is in Mechanical Engineering, but I am currently conducting research in the field of Optics Metrology. Specifically, I am using Interferometry to measure distance and surface profiles, applying this in semiconductor positioning and surface inspection.

Due to my background in Mechanical Engineering, my knowledge of optics is limited, but I am doing my best to expand my understanding.

Finally, it's a pleasure to meet all of you!

Hello everyone, I was advised to join this community while seeking guidance on how to navigate the academic world as an independent researcher. My name is Omar, and I'm based in Groningen The Netherlands. My formal physics education ended after high school, but I have dedicated the last several years to developing a theoretical framework from first principles. My work focuses on a topological field theory (which I call Swirl-String Theory) that models particles as knotted vortex...
