Hello to all,

New to the forum, I'm not trained in the science of physics. I typically get focused on a singular topic (not unlike the fictional Columbo character), conduct experiments then attempt to compose organized questions and really appreciate the more knowledgeable who are willing to share their thoughts and wisdom.

The topic that I am focused on currently is to try to really understand dynamic rotor balancing. I'm working on a soft bearing balancer and a hard bearing balancer in hopes to fully understand the benefits of each. At the time of this registration, I seem to find myself more interested in the soft bearing balancer. With the aid of a high speed video camera, I 'think' that I am gaining some new insights. New insights often leads to new questions. Hopefully there will be others who are interested in this topic whom I can interact and learn from.

Welcome!

Hello everyone, I was advised to join this community while seeking guidance on how to navigate the academic world as an independent researcher. My name is Omar, and I'm based in Groningen The Netherlands. My formal physics education ended after high school, but I have dedicated the last several years to developing a theoretical framework from first principles. My work focuses on a topological field theory (which I call Swirl-String Theory) that models particles as knotted vortex...
