How did you find PF?
Google search
I signed up because I didn't see a way to search without signing up, though I might just have missed it. The instructions said not to ask questions in this post, so I'll look for the appropriate place to create another post.

Edited: My background is in what my university called Systems Science, though it was geared to corporate computing. COBOL, Fortran, RMS, etc. I worked with mainframe systems for 20+ years before wading into coding for the Internet, then completely switched to b2b and public facing web work. I'm mostly retired and indulging my curiosity about other science topics.

Welcome!
Thank you PeroK. Perhaps you can point me in the right direction. I have questions about how smoke from a controlled fire disperses, and what factors might affect the dispersion. Can you suggest which forum might be appropriate for this kind of question?

Yeah, either Other Physics or maybe the Mechanical Engineering forum (where we discuss fluids and similar). The Mentors can always move the thread if at some point it looks like it would be a better fit in a different forum.
