I'm kind of confused by your question, but:
2 exists and it's positive (2=+2)
and if x=1 then -1+x+1=1
and -1x1=-1

I don't quite understand your question.
What would be the use of having a number "between"?

[tex](-1) + (-1)=~?[/tex]
[tex](1) + (1)=~?[/tex]
[tex](+1) + (+1)=~?[/tex]

A value between -2 and 2 would be 0.
