The cat doesn't look too thrilled, Integral! :)

This reminds me of a t-shirt that I have. It has a picture of a very grumpy looking cat, with a mug of coffee in one of its paw. The t-shirt reads

"Before my morning coffee, I might as well be a dog!"

:)

That's a near perfect realisation of the classic Garfield-Odie dynamic : the smug and cynical cat looking in disdain at the vapidly cheerful tongue-lolling dog.

Here is Simon lounging by my cousin's pool - a pretty good-natured fellow. A couple of weeks after I did some Simon-portraits for her, she heard him screech and ran out the front door only to see him being killed by a neighbor's Rottweiler.

Simon looks like the long lost brother to my two guys. I think the Siamese/Tonkanese are just gorgeous cats. It's a shame he met an untimely end.

I'm glad I took the series of Simon portraits for her, although it's been two years, I don't know if she can bear to keep them out. He was a pretty cool cat and she loved him dearly.

Nothing happened to the Rotter, and I don't think his owner even apologized.

Wow, that's a fantastic photo! I think nobody else will have a chance with something that stunning.

Thank you for the kind words. As far as math is hards question of breed...I have no clue. I found her when she was a couple days old. No sign of dad and mom was laying next to her dead. So I took her home and bottle feed her until she was healthy. Mom was the same color except long haired.

This is a semi body shot. http://www.pngdesignz.com/photos/IMG_0399%20copy.jpg"

That is just so terrible! Rottweilers and pitbulls should really be banned as pets. They pose a lethal danger not just to other animals (cats and dogs) but also young and old people

What a tragic loss. Poor little Simon.

I have a problem with the types of people that often want the aggresive breeds. They are often people lacking the temperament to demand obedient and civil behavior from their dogs. I have known nice people with pit bulls that are the sweetest dogs - you just want to hug them. Not all people who buy pit bulls are nice and spend time training their pets - some want their dogs to be aggressive, and if that's what you want from a pit bull, that's just what you'll get.

Simon was unwanted as a kitten and my cousin's older daughter brought him home, already having named him after Paul Simon, whose music she loves. Her mother raised the roof, insisting that she return the kitten and saying "no more pets". After a couple of days, though, she was right in love with him, spoiling him, etc. He grew up to be one of the most beautiful cats I have seen, with that squared muzzle and lots of muscles.

Okay, this one's not going to be prize-winning, but it's just cute. This is (was) Lucky, a kitten we rescued many years ago. That's his "surrogate mom" that his milk bottle is resting on (a stuffed toy shaped like a cat that we gave him to cuddle with). The new kittens won't come out of hiding for me to get a picture intended for the contest, so I'll have to just enter this old one.

You have 2 full days left to submit a picture to this contest, if you haven't done so already. As you can see, there's already plenty of fur flying all over the place!

Ohhh, this makes me think of how we found SILVIO. That's one of our cats that we found in a plastic bag close to the universitary hospital.

Nice kitten btw.

Yes, he was a very nice kitten, but turned into an ornery old cat! The ungrateful thing moved out to a barn when he grew up, and refused to even come near us. (Actually, he might have just been a very smart cat...we gave him to my step-sister after we got him onto solid food, and her youngest son, who was only a toddler at the time, thought all pets were there to wrestle with him.)

One thing about Simon: He was a massive cat, and if you supported his body when you picked him up, he would just lie back and look at you like he and you were buddies.

Well, in the case of Silvio, he went on to become a very big and healthy cat. Most of our visitors are always very surprised of how big he actually became. But he is indeed very shy. Actually, he only responds to my girlfriend's voice (she is the one who actually found him) and sometimes he will come to me too if i call him. If someone else is in the room, he will hide himself. He also likes to hide in bags, boxes and loves playing with shadows. This is something my other cats never do.

I do think that most of his behaviour is determined by the fact that he was probably abused (hit, beaten,...) when he was very young. We have had him for more than two years now and although he has the best of food and environment, he will always remain afraid of people that "he does not know". Even my brother who visits us regularly has never been able to pick up and caress Silivio, unlike our other cats.

Sounds just like Lucky. Everyone was amazed that such a tiny thing that we weren't even sure would live with bottle feeding turned into such a big adult cat! He certainly had his quirks though. He got lots of baths when we first got him...at first we needed to wipe his bottom to get him to eliminate, but once he was able to do it on his own, he was quite messy about it (before he was old enough to find a litter box yet, and was still on a bottle). He ended up loving jumping into the bathtub if the water was running, so everyone had to be careful not to run the bathwater too hot in case he just dove in (not fun having a cat join you in the bathtub either), but then the rest of the time, he'd be off hiding somewhere wanting nothing to do with people, even though he was really friendly as a kitten (I have pictures of him lying on top of people, sleeping on their backs while they laid on the floor watching TV, or sitting on top of my sister's head). Maybe he just got a bit miffed when we had him neutered.

Our last ferret (Turbo, my avatar) loved to jump in the shower and liked playing in water, especially if there were some nice slippery ice cubes to attack. He did not enjoy getting baths, though, and would actively try to avoid them, although since he was less than 3 pounds, he couldn't do much about it when I caught him. Still, when he saw us getting out a couple of bath towels and filling the sink, he could be pretty elusive.

Yep same here.

 yep same here. i have had the "pleasure" of doing lots of these "bottom wipings" (i don't know if wiping is correct English but i am sure you get my point:wink: )

He ended up loving jumping into the bathtub if the water was running,

Incredible, Silvio had the same "hobby" when he was young.
He also once "used our toilet". I have never seen it but my girlfriend did:smile:

even though he was really friendly as a kitten (I have pictures of him lying on top of people, sleeping on their backs while they laid on the floor watching TV, or sitting on top of my sister's head). Maybe he just got a bit miffed when we had him neutered.

Yep, i got such pictures too.

Indeed, the similarities are very clear here.
Well, i am just glad that everything turned out just fine given the circumstances...
