What field of physics would communications / photonics fall under? My university does research in Astronomical Physics, Biological Physics, Biomedical Physics, Experimental Condensed Matter Physics, Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics, Experimental Nuclear and Particle Physics, Theoretical Particle Physics and String Theory, Mathematical Physics, and Neuroscience Physics. Sorry for the long list but I was just curious about which field of research (if any of them) would correlate to photonics / communications physics. Thanks.

The most likely out of your list is probably Condensed Matter Physics...

Okay, thanks for the responses!

No, I'm a student at Virginia Tech.
