Click For Summary

Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the photosensitive properties of Molybdenum Disulphide (MoS2) in the context of its application for rapid water disinfection using solar radiation. Participants seek to understand the work function of MoS2 and its variation with thickness, as well as the underlying reactions involved in the purification process.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Technical explanation, Conceptual clarification

Main Points Raised

  • One participant inquires about the work function of Molybdenum Disulphide and how it changes with thickness, indicating a need for detailed information on its photosensitive properties.
  • Another participant provides a link to a Wikipedia page on Molybdenum Disulphide, suggesting it as a resource for general information.
  • A third participant shares a link to a research article discussing rapid water disinfection using MoS2 nanofilms and visible light, which may contain relevant insights into the topic.
  • The same participant mentions a co-author from the research article, suggesting they might be approachable for further advice and insight.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

The discussion does not present a consensus, as participants are primarily sharing resources and seeking information rather than debating established viewpoints or findings.

Contextual Notes

Participants have not provided specific details about the assumptions or definitions related to the work function of MoS2 or the mechanisms of water purification, leaving these aspects unresolved.

Dear Experts,

I am studying about a Stanford University innovation, using Molybdenum Disulphide and solar radiation to disinfect water at a very quick rate. I am unable to find details about photo sensitive properties of Molybdenum Disulphide. What is the work function of molybdenum disulphide, how does it change with its thickness. I would be glad if I could find any resource which could guide me through the reactions and how the purification is done.
I have attached an image of the water purifying device here.
Thank you.
